BETTER BEANS100% ORGANIC, FAIR TRADE, SHADE GROWN COFFEE The Literacy Council blend is a medium bodied coffee with a taste of wild berries and a subtle sweetness. A complex aroma precedes a smooth, balanced blend with hints of almond in the finish. This blend presents an exceptionally smooth cup with a very mild acidity. All of Higher Ground’s coffees are Fair Trade, organic, and shade grown. Fair Trade certification enables the farmers who grow our coffees to keep their family owned farms and benefit from economic and educational programs, while growing a great organic crop. Our coffees are also grown in the shade of the forest canopy—preserving ancient forests and natural habitat for innumerable species of plants and animals. FAIRER MEANS This blend furthers the work of the Literacy Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing illiteracy in central Alabama. The Council's efforts include providing resources and referrals, maintaining a toll-free Literacy Helpline, training literacy tutors and conducting public awareness campaigns designed to keep the crisis of illiteracy in the public eye.
